What is POM (Acetal) vs. Polyamide (Nylon)
What is POM (Acetal) vs. Polyamide (Nylon)? Each of these materials can be used in making industrial parts of plastic. Type 6 Nylon is a standard plastic used to make gears. Copolymer Acetal is another tough and engineering grade plastic that is tough and durable in making food processing components. The properties of these materials are both very good and may be used to produce fine quality machined parts and manifolds.

  1. Acetal (POM) does not absorb moisture and water at the rate Nylon 6 does in wet applications. Nylon 6 is best used in dry applications. www.knowbirs.con
